Scope: This standard specifies three methods for determining the indentation hardness of poroelastic materials: Method A (indentation hardness index): A single laboratory test method for the determination of indentation is given. Method B (Concave Hardness Profile): Provides information on the shape of the hardness concave curve. Method C (Indentation Hardness Test): A rapid method suitable for quality control testing. This standard applies to open-cell latex, polyurethane sponge and polyvinyl chloride sponge. The results obtained by these methods relate only to specific test conditions and are usually not directly usable for design purposes.
