Scope: 1.1 This standard specifies the method for determining the static bonding strength of vulcanized rubber to rigid materials. The sample of this standard is composed of a cylindrical rubber bonded by vulcanization to two rigid parts with conical end faces. 1.2 The bonding of the specimens is achieved by means of an adhesive system that includes not only rigid materials and adhesives, but also other elements such as thin alloy coatings on rigid parts, chemical treatments, a single adhesive layer or a combination of an underlying adhesive and an upper layer. The adhesive system used to prepare the sample shall be properly regulated by the user, but the representation methods for various damage types involving complex adhesive systems may still be implemented in accordance with the provisions of this standard. 1.3 This standard is applicable to the samples prepared in the laboratory under standard conditions, the purpose is to provide data for the development and control of the adhesive system and its components (such as glue and special rubber compound), production process, etc. In some cases the bonding of rigid parts such as rubber to metal wires, cords or sheets is not suitable for this method due to the small cross-section of the bonded rigid parts, which despite their high modulus have low stiffness.
