Scope: This standard applies to stand-alone or built-in single-phase transformers with separate input and output windings; they use 50 Hz or 60 Hz, AC power below 1 000 V, and can be used for cold-cathode tubular lamps (or assemblies of such lamps) Provide power and make it work stably. The no-load rated output voltage of such lamps is greater than 1 000 V but not exceeding 10 000 V, suitable for lighting, electrical advertising, light signaling and similar purposes. To ensure the safety of such transformers, their performance needs to be verified. Since the characteristics of such lamps are not standardized, this standard defines a reference load to ensure repeatability of test results. Special structures are required in special places such as ships and vehicles and in dangerous places such as explosions. This standard does not apply to transformers that supply power to the following types of lamps, low-voltage and high-pressure sodium lamps, high-pressure mercury lamps, tungsten-halogen lamps, xenon lamps, hot-cathode fluorescent lamps, and special lamps for copiers and other equipment. This standard does not apply to autotransformers and electronic converters. This standard can also be used as a guideline for transformers used for purposes other than those specified in this scope, such as transformers for photographic lamps. However, their characteristics shall fall within the general principles stated in the scope of this standard, and there are no specific criteria for it. Capacitors should comply with GB l8489--2001. The tests in this standard are type tests. See Appendix B for routine tests.
