This standard specifies the determination of dimers and trimers in industrial propylene by gas chromatography. This standard is applicable to the determination of propylene dimer (hexene) greater than 20 m9/kg and propylene trimer (nonene) greater than 30 m9/kg in industrial propylene. Note: Propylene dimer is the main component of the so-called "green oil" in industrial production plants of propylene, which is formed in the partial hydrogenation process to remove propadiene and propyne from propylene. Propylene dimer is mainly composed of the following substances: methylpentene, 2,3-methylbutene (about 25%), 1-hexene (about 12%) and Ce diene (about 20%) ). 1.2 This standard is not intended to address all safety issues associated with its use. Therefore, users of this standard should establish in advance appropriate safety and security measures and determine appropriate regulations.
