Scope

This standard specifies general requirements for the design and manufacture of protective devices primarily intended to protect persons from mechanical hazards. This standard is mainly applicable to machines manufactured after the release of this standard. Care should be taken to use guards to minimize non-mechanical hazards. The requirements of this standard apply to both fixed and movable guards. This standard does not apply to those parts of the actuating interlock in the guard. The interlocking device is specified by GB/T l8831. This standard does not address requirements for specialized systems capable of moving and lifting materials, such as rollover protective structures (ROPS) and falling object protective structures (FOPS).
