Scope
Warning: Personnel using this standard should be familiar with formal laboratory operating procedures. This standard does not intend to address all safety issues that may arise from the use of this standard. It is the user's responsibility to formulate corresponding safety and health systems and ensure compliance with relevant national laws and regulations. This standard specifies two test methods for identifying saturated rubber in unsaturated rubber. Method A is an ozone oxidation method, and method B is an acid digestion method. This standard applies to raw rubber, unvulcanized rubber and vulcanized rubber. The results obtained by the two methods are not comparable. Limitations of this standard: Method A is to contain a small amount of saturated rubber (butyl rubber, chlorinated butyl rubber, bromine rubber, etc.) in a large amount of unsaturated rubber (natural rubber, butadiene rubber, isoprene rubber, etc.) butyl rubber and ethylene-propylene copolymers: ethylene-propylene rubber, ethylene-propylene-diene rubber). Method A is applicable to the determination of isobutylene-isoprene in blends containing one or more of the following rubbers (isoprene rubber, natural rubber, styrene-butadiene rubber, butadiene rubber, nitrile rubber, neoprene rubber) Presence of one or a blend of ethylene copolymers (butyl rubber, chlorinated butyl rubber, brominated butyl rubber) and ethylene-propylene copolymers (ethylene propylene rubber, EPDM rubber). Method A is not applicable to mixed rubbers containing one or more compounding agents, mixtures of polyolefins, paraffins or chlorinated paraffins that cannot be completely extracted by a mixed solvent of methyl ethyl ketone and ethanol, or thermoplastics that cannot be completely decomposed by ozone. elastomer. Method B is suitable for the identification of isobutylene in single or combined unsaturated rubbers, such as polyisoprene, butadiene-styrene copolymer, various butadiene-styrenenitrile copolymers and polychloroprene blends - Isoprene copolymers (butyl rubber, chlorobutyl rubber, bromobutyl rubber) and ethylene-propylene copolymers (EPDM, EPDM). Method B is not suitable for compounds containing low molecular weight polyethylene or polystyrene.
