This standard specifies the structure and elements of the Graphical User Interface (GUI-R) for programming and operating robots. Figure 3 shows the relationship between GUI-R and the robot system, programming and simulation system, and program editor. The importance of the graphical programming system is that it can be run off-line on a separate programming workstation, and can be connected to a robot system to work online. For offline systems, the same graphical user interface can also be used in conjunction with existing robots and existing text languages. The generated code can be stored on a disk or other medium for download to the robot system, or downloaded directly, eg via a serial communication port. An in-line system can be connected to the robotic system via a high-speed serial communication line, or fully integrated into the robotic control system. The content of this standard is mainly applicable to the programming of GUI-R, and does not include the robot program itself and its expression method. The use of GUI-R for operational aspects will be covered in subsequent editions of this standard.
