- Scope
- This standard specifies two methods for the determination of residual vinyl chloride monomer (RVCM) content in polyvinyl chloride (PVC) by headspace gas chromatography, namely method A (liquid headspace chromatography) and method B (solid headspace gas chromatography). Method A of this standard is applicable to the determination of residual vinyl chloride monomer content in vinyl chloride homopolymer and copolymer resins and their products; method B is applicable to the determination of residual vinyl chloride monomer content in vinyl chloride homopolymer resin (polyvinyl chloride). For vinyl chloride homopolymer resin, method B is the referee method. The minimum detection amount of method A of this standard is 0.5 mg/kg; the minimum detection amount of method B is 0.1 mg/kg.
