Scope: This standard specifies the approximate calibration method for the typical material capacity that can be contained by the back bucket and grab bucket (see Figure 1) of hydraulic excavators and backhoe loaders. Capacity calibration is determined according to the size of the inner wall of the bucket and the volume of the material at the tip of the pile. The calibration method of the bucket capacity is to divide the material contained in the bucket into several simple geometric shapes as an aggregate. The purpose of this standard is to provide a uniform calibration method for comparing bucket capacities, not to determine the actual bucket capacity in various usage situations. This note does not apply to buckets of mechanical excavators.
