Scope
This standard applies to dose equivalent (rate) meters and/or monitors that measure ambient dose equivalent (rate) and/or directional dose equivalent (rate) generated by external beta, X and gamma radiation. This standard is directly applicable to dose equivalent (rate) meters for radiation protection purposes, which are used to determine dose equivalents or dose equivalent rates from external beta and/or X and gamma radiation with energies up to 10 MeV. In this standard, "dose equivalent (rate)" is used when performing dose equivalent measurement and dose equivalent rate measurement. The purpose of this standard is to specify the design requirements and performance characteristics of dose equivalent (rate) instruments used to determine ambient dose equivalent (rate) and directional dose equivalent (rate). This standard stipulates: a) The general characteristics, functions and performance characteristics of the dose equivalent (rate) meter; b) The test methods that meet the requirements of this standard.
