Scope: This part specifies the method for the determination of the viscosity of thermoplastic polyester (TP) dilute solutions (also expressed as "reduced viscosity") in certain specific solvents. This section applies to polyethylene terephthalate (PET), polybutylene terephthalate (PBT), polycyclohexene dimethylene terephthalate (PCT) and polynaphthalene Ethylene glycol diformate (PEN), polyester copolymers and other polyesters specified in ISO 7792-1:1997, which are soluble in a specified solvent under specified conditions. The determination of viscosity number shall be determined according to the general method specified in GB/T 1632.1-2008, and the test conditions specified in this part shall be followed. Determination of the viscosity number of thermoplastic polyesters provides a method for determining the relative molecular mass of the polymer.
