- Scope
- This standard specifies the measurement methods and rating criteria for the vibration of non-rotating and non-reciprocating parts of the complete reciprocating diesel engine. Shaft vibration (including torsional vibration) is outside the scope of this standard. This standard is applicable to reciprocating piston diesel engines with rigid or flexible supports. Typical applications are diesel engines for low-speed trucks, three-wheeled vehicles, tractors, irrigation and drainage pumps, marine main engines, marine auxiliary engines and generator sets. This standard also applies to machines driven by reciprocating machines or supporting machines that drive reciprocating machines, which should be assessed according to relevant standards and classifications. This standard does not apply to reciprocating diesel engines with a power greater than 100KW installed on road vehicles (such as industrial trucks). The rating criteria provided by this standard are suitable for operation monitoring and acceptance tests, and evaluate the adverse effects of diesel engine mechanical vibration on instruments and equipment directly installed on the diesel engine. The rating criteria provided in this standard are not applicable to the rating of internal parts of diesel engines. For example, problems related to valves, pistons, piston rings, etc. may not be reflected in the measurement, and identifying these problems requires the use of research techniques. Noise is also outside the scope of this standard.
