This part of GB/T 14191 specifies the vocabulary of terms used in the specialty of extracorporeal prosthetics and orthotics. This International Standard defines the basic terms used to describe such prosthetics and orthotics, the people and methods involved in the anatomical and orthotic practice of the parts of the human body where such prosthetics or orthotics are fitted. This standard does not apply to external prostheses, such as dental prostheses or orthopedic devices, that replace the breast or other parts of the human body, nor does it apply to internal prostheses or orthopedic appliances; nor does it apply to those orthopedic devices that cover only a single limb Devices (such as orthoses for fracture treatment and sports medicine, etc.).
