Scope: This standard specifies the test methods for determining the apparent total density and appearance of foamed plastics and rubber. The apparent overall density and apparent core density of materials that form skins during molding or free foaming or extrusion can be tested by this standard. The term "apparent overall density" does not apply to materials that do not form a skin when molded. For products with irregular shapes, methods such as buoyancy method should be used for determination.
