- Scope
- This standard specifies a gravimetric method capable of determining the amount of extractives from granular phenolic molding compounds using acetone near its boiling point. This method is only applicable to molding compounds based on novolac resins, but not to molding compounds based on resole resins, because the latter type of resins cannot be completely dissolved in acetone.
