This standard specifies the safety requirements related to the transport of radioactive materials. The transportation in this standard includes the design, manufacture and maintenance of the packaging, as well as the preparation, consignment, loading and unloading, delivery (including intermediate storage) of the package, and the acceptance of the final destination of the package. This standard uses normal (including routine and minor incidents) and accident conditions for the classification of transportation situations. This standard applies to land, water and air transportation of radioactive materials (including accompanying radioactive materials). This standard does not apply to: a) radioactive substances that have become an integral part of the means of transport; b) radioactive substances that are transported within the unit without involving public road or railway transportation; c) implanted or infused for diagnosis or treatment radioactive material in the human body or in a living animal; d) radioactive material in consumer products that have been approved by the competent authority and sold to end users; e) natural materials and ores containing naturally occurring radionuclides, in their natural state or Processed only for purposes other than extraction of radionuclides, nor are these radionuclides intended to be used after processing. And the activity concentration of such substances is not more than 10 times of the value specified in 5.1~5.2; f) The non-radioactive solid object with any radioactive substance existing on the surface does not exceed the limit value specified in 3.14. When the transported radioactive substances have additional risks and are shipped together with other dangerous goods, the relevant regulations on the transportation of dangerous goods should also be complied with.
