Scope
This standard specifies the terms and definitions of natural loose and mounted polished diamonds, diamond color, clarity, cut grading rules, diamond quality and diamond grading certificates. This standard applies to diamond grading and related activities in the fields of jewelry and jade identification, cultural relic identification, commerce, customs, insurance, pawn, asset evaluation, scientific research and teaching, literature publication, etc. The color grading in this standard applies to loose and mounted polished diamonds in the colorless to pale yellow (brown, grey) color range. The cut grading in this standard applies to both loose and mounted polished diamonds with a standard round cut. The grading rules in this standard apply to loose and mounted polished diamonds that have not been optimized by coatings, fissure fillings, etc. The grading rules in this standard are applicable to loose polished diamonds with a mass greater than or equal to 0.0400g (0.20ct), and mounted polished diamonds with a mass between 0.0400g (0.20ct, inclusive) and 0.2000g (1.00ct, inclusive). Unmounted and inlaid polished diamonds with a mass of less than 0.0400g (0.20ct), and inlaid polished diamonds with a mass greater than 0.2000g (1.00ct) can be implemented with reference to this standard. For non-colorless to light yellow (brown, gray) color loose and inlaid polished diamonds, their color grading, clarity grading and cut grading can refer to this standard for the degree of modification (polish and symmetry).
