WARNING: This standard is not intended to make recommendations on all safety issues related to its use. It is the user's responsibility to establish appropriate safety and protective measures and to determine the applicability of relevant regulatory limits before applying this standard. Special considerations are listed in Chapter 6, and in 8.1.3.2, 8.1.4.2, 8.2.6.3, 9.3.6.3, 10.3.6.2, B.1.4, B.1.6, B.3 and C.3. Scope: 1.1 This standard specifies the method for determining the vapor pressure of gasoline, other volatile petroleum products and volatile crude oil. Method A of this standard is applicable to the determination of gasoline with vapor pressure less than 180kPa (including gasoline containing only methyl tert-butyl ether (MTBE)) and other petroleum products. The improved steps of method A are suitable for samples of gasoline at 35kPa to 100kPa and gasoline with oxygenates added. 1.3 Method B and its improved steps of this standard use a semi-automatic horizontal bath tester, which is also applicable to the determination of gasoline and other petroleum products applicable to Method A and its improved steps. However, only samples of gasoline and oxygenated gasoline were used in interlaboratory comparisons to determine its precision. 1.4 Method C of this standard is applicable to the determination of samples whose vapor pressure is greater than 180kPa. 1.5 Method D of this standard is applicable to the determination of aviation gasoline with a vapor pressure of about 50kPa. 1.6 This standard does not apply to the determination of the vapor pressure of liquefied petroleum gas. For the determination method of the vapor pressure of liquefied petroleum gas, refer to GB/T 6602 or ASTM D6897. The precision of this method for determining the vapor pressure of crude oil has not been determined. GB/T 11059 is a method for determining the vapor pressure of crude oil, and IP 481 is a method for determining the air saturated vapor pressure of crude oil. 1.7 This standard makes special instructions on the test preparation, sample transfer, sample state verification, measurement steps, test result report and precision requirements for the improvement steps of gasoline samples added with oxygenates, see 4.3 and 8.1.3.2 for details , 8.1.4.2, 8.2.1, 8.2.2, 8.2.4, 8.2.5, 8.2.6.1, 9.2, 93.2, 9.3.4, 9.3.5, 12.2, 13.1.1 Table 1 and 13.1.2 Table 2.
