Scope
This part of GB/T 4893 is applicable to the determination of the adhesion of paint film on the surface of wooden parts in furniture. This standard specifies a test method for assessing the resistance of a paint film to release from a substrate when the paint film penetrates to the substrate using a rectangular grid pattern. The properties determined by this empirical test method depend on factors other than the adhesion of the paint film to the preceding paint film or substrate. Therefore, this test method cannot be regarded as a method for quantitatively measuring the adhesion value. The test method specified in this section can be used as a pass/fail test, or where appropriate, as a six-level classification test. When used in a multi-film system, it can be used to assess the resistance of each paint film in the paint film system to detachment from every other paint film. Although the test methods specified in this standard are applicable to paint films on hard substrates (steel) and soft substrates (wood and plastics), these different substrates require different test procedures (see Chapter 6). This test method is not applicable to paint films with a total thickness exceeding 250 µm, nor to uneven paint films.
