Scope: This International Standard provides guidance on management system audits, including audit principles, management of audit programs and implementation of management system audits. It also provides guidance on the evaluation of the competence of personnel involved in the management system audit process, including audit program managers, auditors members and audit team leaders. This International Standard is applicable to all organizations that need to conduct internal audits of their management systems, external audits or need to manage audit programmes. It is possible for this International Standard to be applied to other types of audits, as long as special consideration is given to the specific competencies required.
