This standard specifies the test method for the determination of the electrical resistance of antistatic and conductive articles made partly or entirely of rubber between specified points. The rubber product is conductive due to the addition of carbon black and/or other substances. When the first measurement is made, the resistance of the product does not exceed 3×108 Ω. This standard specifies the basic dimensions of electrodes, but for some special products, the requirements of relevant product standards should be referred to. This standard applies to antistatic and conductive articles made of vulcanized rubber or thermoplastic rubber. This standard does not apply to the following products: a) products whose surface is composed of insulating and conductive materials; b) products whose surface is made of insulating materials, including footwear (the outer surface of shoes is usually not antistatic and conductive).
