This standard specifies the determination of the purity of styrene for industrial use by the crystallization point method. This standard applies to the determination of the purity of styrene for industrial use, expressed in mass percent, and all impurities are considered as ethylbenzene. CAUTION: Styrene is flammable and will undergo exothermic polymerization when in contact with peroxides, mineral acids, and aluminum chloride, among others. High concentrations of liquid styrene and its vapors are irritating to the eyes and respiratory system.
