Scope
This standard specifies the method for determining surface contamination of beta emitters (maximum beta energy greater than 0.15 MeV) and alpha emitters. This standard applies to the determination of surface contamination of equipment, facilities, containers of radioactive substances, and sealed sources expressed by radioactivity per unit area. This standard is limited to β emitters and α emitters that meet the following conditions: a. The particle production rate of β particles plus monoenergetic electrons is close to 100 particles per 100 transmutations; b. The particle production rate of α particles Approximately 100 particles are emitted every 100 transmutations. β emitters are detailed in Table A3 in Appendix A (Supplement).
