Scope: This standard provides general types of surface preparation and terms and definitions related thereto. This standard focuses on the practical application of surface treatment technology in the field of metal processing. This standard does not include the terms and definitions of enamel and glazed porcelain, thermal spraying, and hot-dip galvanizing. These terms and definitions have been included in the professional glossary or in the related glossary under development.
