This standard specifies the technology and acceptance criteria for detecting internal defects in steel welds of lifting machinery (including bridge and gantry cranes, mobile cranes, tower cranes, jib cranes, etc.) using pulse reflection manual ultrasonic testing methods. This standard is suitable for testing full penetration fusion welded joints of structural steel with a base metal thickness of 8 mm to 100 mm. This standard is also applicable to the testing of full-penetration fusion welded butt joints of unlined structural steel with a base material thickness of 6 mm to 8 mm (excluding 8 mm) when the testing process is compiled and approved by all parties to the contract.
