ISO/TR 22520:2005 provides comparative data, obtained from various manufacturers and other official sources, for the year 2002, on the A-weighted emission sound pressure levels of portable hand-held forestry machinery. It is applicable to chain saws (for which the existing emission sound pressure levels were for the full range of engine sizes) and to grass-trimmers and brush-cutters. International Standards ISO 11681-1, ISO 11681-2 and ISO 11806 require that these machines be designed to generate noise levels as low as practicable, based on the existing noise emission data, and ISO/TR 22520 is intended to assist in determining compliance with that requirement.

This document specifies methods for measuring the sound pressure level from service equipment in buildings installed to building structures. This document covers specifically measurements of sanitary installations, mechanical ventilation, heating and cooling service equipment, lifts, rubbish chutes, boilers, blowers, pumps and other auxiliary service equipment, and motor driven car park doors, but can also be applied to other equipment attached to or installed in buildings. The methods are suitable for rooms with volumes of approximately 300 m3 or less in e.g. dwellings, hotels, schools, offices and hospitals. The standard is not in general intended for measurements in large auditoria and concert halls. However, the operating conditions and operating cycles in Annex B can be used in such cases. The service equipment sound pressure level is determined as the maximum A- weighted and optionally C- weighted sound pressure level occurring during a specified operation cycle of the service equipment under test, or as the equivalent continuous sound pressure level determined with a specified integration time. A-weighted and C- weighted values are calculated from octave-band measurements

This International Standard specifies measurement methods and maximum ratings for indoor background sound pressure levels in theatres, review rooms and dubbing rooms. It applies to noise emitted by heating, ventilating and air-conditioning systems, intrusive noise from the projector(s) associated with the theatre and noise emitted by any other mechanical or electrical equipment in the theatre building. It is intended for application when the background noise is essentially a steady-state sound, without strong time-varying components. It does not apply to intrusive noise from other sources outside the theatre, such as aircraft, highway traffic, or adjacent theatres, or to noise resulting from the operation of the sound system in the theatre, or the vibration of the theatre, i.e. movement of the building below 20 Hz.

5.1 Paper machine rolls can range in size from 2.4 to 9 m [8 to 30 ft] long, with a shell thickness of from 12.5 to 75 mm [0.5 to 3 in.,] and 300 to 1200 mm [12 to 48 in.] diameter. Depending on purpose, paper machine rolls can weigh as little as 60 000 kg [13 000 lb] to as much as 27 500 kg [60 000 lb]. 5.2 If indications are found during this procedure it can be repeated, with additional sensors to refine source location accuracy. 5.3 Removal of rolls for traditional NDT examination may be impractical and may not be sensitive enough to locate small defects. 5.4 Traditional AE examination, whereby the roll is subjected to load greater than service load to detect crack extension, risks damage to the roll and is best employed as a follow-up NDT examination. 5.5 Manual rotation through a full revolution subjects existing cracks to tensile and compressive forces which can open and close existing cracks, and cause friction at the crack surfaces. 5.6 Excess background noise (overhead cranes, nearby maintenance activities) may distort AE data or render it useless. Users must be aware of the following common sources of background noise: bearing noise (lack of lubrication, spalling, and so forth), mechanical contact with the roll by other objects, electromagnetic interference (EMI) and radio frequency interference (RFI) from nearby broadcasting facilities and from other sources. This practice should not be used if background noise cannot be eliminated or controlled. 5.7 Other Non-destructive test methods may be used to evaluate the significance of AE indications. Traditional AE has been used to confirm the existence of the AE indication and fine tune the location. Magnetic particle, ultrasonic and radiographic examinations have been used to establish the position, depth and dimensions of the indication. Procedures for using other NDT methods are beyond the scope of this practice. 1.1 This practice provides guidelines for acoustic emission (AE) examinations of non-pressure, paper machine rolls. 1.2 This practice utilizes a slow rotation of the roll to produce a full load cycle where load is provided by the weight of the roll suspended from its bearings or other journal support mechanism(s). 1.3 This practice is used for detection of cracks and other discontinuities in rolls that produce frictional acoustic emission during rotation. 1.4 The AE measurements are used to detect or locate emission sources, or both. Other nondestructive test (NDT) methods must be used to evaluate the significance of AE sources. Procedures for other NDT techniques are beyond the scope of this practice. See Note 1.Note 1—Traditional AE examination, magnetic particle examination, shear wave ultrasonic examination and radiography are commonly used to establish the exact position and dimensions of flaws that produce AE.

IEC 60704-2-14:2013(E) specifies the measuring conditions to provide for sufficient accuracy in determining the noise emitted and comparing the results of measurements taken by different laboratories, whilst simulating as far as possible the practical use of household refrigerators, frozen-food storage cabinets and food freezers. It is recommended to consider the determination of noise levels as part of a comprehensive testing procedure covering many aspects of the properties and performance of household refrigerators, frozen-food storage cabinets and food freezers. This edition includes the following significant technical changes with respect to the previous edition: a) the description of an appropriate test enclosure has been removed from this part of IEC 60704 and has been incorporated into Part 1 of IEC 60704-1; b) the values of standard deviations of sound power levels determined according to this part of IEC 60704 have been added.

This document specifies field survey methods for measuring: a) airborne sound insulation between rooms; b) impact sound insulation of floors; c) airborne sound insulation of façades; and d) sound pressure levels in rooms caused by service equipment. The methods described in this document are applicable for measurements in rooms of dwellings or in rooms of comparable size with a maximum of 150 m3. For airborne sound insulation, impact sound insulation and façade sound insulation the method gives values which are (octave band) frequency dependent. They can be converted into a single number characterising the acoustical performances by application of EN ISO 717-1 and EN ISO 717-2. For service equipment sound the results are given directly in A - or C -weighted sound pressure levels.

ISO 15665:2003 defines the acoustic performance of three classes (classes A, B and C) of pipe insulation. It also specifies three types of construction that will meet these acoustic performance classes. Furthermore, it defines a standardized test method for measuring the acoustic performance of any type of construction, thereby allowing existing and new insulation constructions to be rated against the three classes. ISO 15665:2003 is applicable to the acoustic insulation of cylindrical steel pipes and to their piping components. It is valid for pipes up to 1 m in diameter and a minimum wall thickness of 4,2 mm for diameters below 300 mm, and 6,3 mm for diameters from 300 mm and above. It is not applicable to the acoustic insulation of rectangular ducting and vessels or machinery. ISO 15665:2003 covers both design and installation aspects of acoustic insulation and provides guidance to assist noise control engineers in determining the required class and extent of insulation needed for a particular application. It gives typical examples of construction methods, but the examples are for information only and not meant to be prescriptive.

These test procedures are not necessarily appropriate to site test conditions. Acoustic system effects are presently the subject of considerable research effort. ISO 5136, which covers the in-duct method, and ISO 10302 for small fans, should be used in conjunction with this part of ISO 13347.

This part of IS0 3822 specifies the mounting and operating conditions to be used for draw-off taps and mixing valves when measuring noise emission resulting from water flow. The procedures described are for general use for all types of draw-off taps and mixing valves of conventional design, with a recommended flow pressure range of 0,l MPa to 0,5 MPa? The mounting and operating conditions apply to drawoff tap and mixing valve assemblies including any inlet or outlet mounting or installation unions, elbows, adaptors, etc., but excluding interchangeable outlet accessories such as aerators, shower hoses, shower heads, flow straighteners, etc. These outlet accessories are replaced by standardized low-noise flow resistances. When the outlet accessories mentioned above are neither interchangeable nor removable, then the tests are carried out with them in place. Interchangeable outlet accessories are tested separately according to procedures specified in other parts of IS0 3822. Thermostatic mixing valves, intended for use with more than one independent draw-off tap, and bidet valves with a direct outlet into an interior part of the body of the bidet are not regarded as conventional draw-off taps or mixing valves and are not covered by this part of IS0 3822. Similarly, electrically operated valves are regarded as combined devices (solenoid valve and outlet) and are not covered by this part of IS0 3822. The test procedures cover a range of flow pressures between 0,l MPa and 0,5 MPa.
