1 Scope This part of IEC 63093 specifies the dimensions that are of importance for mechanical interchangeability for a preferred range of PM-cores made of magnetic oxides, the main dimensions for coil formers to be used with these cores and the locations of their pins on a modular printed wiring grid in relation to the base outlines of cores. It also specifies the effective parameter values to be used in calculations and gives guidelines on allowable limits of surface irregularities applicable to the PM-cores. The use of derived standards which give more detailed specifications of component parts whilst still permitting compliance with this document is discussed in Annex A.

1.1 This specification covers technically important, commercially available, magnetically hard, cast and sintered permanent magnets known commonly as Alnico. 1.2 Alnico magnets have approximate magnetic properties of residual magnetic induction, Br, from 0.52 T (5200 G) to 1.35 T (13500 G) and coercivity, HcB, from 38 kA/m (475 Oe) to 175 kA/m (2200 Oe). Their specific magnetic hysteresis behavior (demagnetization curves) can be characterized using Test Method A977/A977M. 1.3 The values stated in SI units are to be regarded as standard. The values given in parentheses are mathematical conversions to customary (cgs-emu and inch-pound) units which are provided for information only and are not considered standard. 1.4 This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety, health, and environmental practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use. 1.5 This international standard was developed in accordance with internationally recognized principles on standardization established in the Decision on Principles for the Development of International Standards, Guides and Recommendations issued by the World Trade Organization Technical Barriers to Trade (TBT) Committee.
