The information conveyed by the teleprotection equipment can be in analogue or digital form. The command type teleprotection equipment referred to in this standard can be power line carrier equipment or voice frequency equipment which is used in connection with various telecommunication systems, such as power line carrier (PLC), radio links, optical fibre, rented circuits, leased or privately owned cables. In addition the command type teleprotection can be digital equipment which is used with a digital telecommunication system or media such as optical fibres, radio links, leased or privately owned digital links. The command type teleprotection equipment may be separate or provided as an integral part of the protection equipment. In addition to teleprotection equipment performance tests, tests have to be carried out on the power supply of the teleprotection equipment. All the tests should be regarded as type tests. NOTE - According to the International Electrotechnical Vocabulary (IEV), a type test is defined as a test of one or more devices made to a certain design to show that the design meets certain specifications.

This technical specification provides general guidance on the dynamic performance of high-voltage direct current (HVDC) systems. Dynamic performance, as used in this specification, is meant to include those events and phenomena whose characteristic frequencies or time domain cover the range between transient conditions and steady state. It is concerned with the dynamic performance due to interactions between two-terminal HVDC systems and related a.c. systems or their elements such as power plants, a.c. lines and buses, reactive power sources, etc. at steady-state or transient conditions. The two-terminal HVDC systems are assumed to utilize 12-pulse converter units comprised of three-phase bridge (double way) connections. The converters are assumed to use thyristor valves as bridge arms, with gapless metal oxide arresters for insulation coordination and to have power flow capability in both directions. Diode valves are not considered in this specification. While multi-terminal HVDC transmission systems are not expressly considered, much of the information in this specification is equally applicable to such systems. This specification (part 3) which covers dynamic performance, is accompanied by publications for steady-state (part 1) and transient (part 2) performance. All three aspects should be considered when preparing two-terminal HVDC system specifications. A difference exists between system performance specifications and equipment design specifications for individual components of a system. While equipment specifications and testing requirements are not defined herein, attention is drawn to those which would affect performance specifications for a system. There are many possible variations between different HVDC systems, therefore these are not considered in detail. This report should not be used directly as a specification for a specific project, but rather to provide the basis for an appropriate specification tailored to fit actual system requirements for a particular electric power transmission scheme. This specification does not intend to discriminate between the responsibility of users and manufacturers for the work specified.

This International Standard specifies requirements for the type test of indoor electronic ripple control receivers for the reception and interpretation of pulses of a single audio frequency superimposed on the voltage of the electricity distrivution network and for the execution of the corresponding switching operations. In this system the mains frequency is generally used to synchronize the transmitter and receivers. Neither the control frequency,nor the encoding are standardized in this standard. This standard gives no requirements for constructional details internal to the receiver.This standard does not cover the acceptance tests and the conformity tests.(Nevertheless, an example of what could be an acceptance test is given in annex G(informative).) The reliability aspect also is not covered in this standard as there are no short term procedures available which would fit into type test documents to satisfactorily check this requirement.

Pertains to ferroresonant voltage regulators that operate at relatively constant frequencies and provide substantially constant output voltages in spite of relatively large changes of input voltage, and to controlled ferroresonant regulators which maintain substantially constant output voltage regardless of variations, within limits, of input voltage, temperature, frequency and output load.
