This part of IEC 60512 defines two test methods for evaluating the performance of a connector in a transmission line by measuring the reflections produced by it in the time domain. In these methods, the connector under test is treated as a discontinuity in a transmission line with a controlled characteristic impedance. Test method A uses precision coaxial and semi-rigid coaxial cables to connect the connector under test and the test equipment. This method is suitable for many connector or cableassembly geometries. Test method B uses precision test boards, precision coaxial cables and semi-rigid coaxial cables to connect the connector under test and the test equipment. This method is suitable for printed board connectors.

This part of IEC 60512-23 defines a test method which is intended to assess the screening effectiveness of screened non-circular multi-pole, electrically short, connectors by the measurement of the effective (surface) transfer impedance ZTE expressed in Ω, using a network analyzer, for frequencies up to 1 GHz. It is based on the line injection test method according IEC 61196-1 with a specific type of injection wire, which is adapted to the shapes of connectors. Due to the specific test set-up used in the method described hereinafter the connector screen itself is not verified, but the combination of two connectors (male and female) together, i.e. the test results include the effectiveness of the screens of the two connectors and the joint between the connectors and the joints of the cable to the connector.

This part of IEC 61076 describes M12 circular connectors typically used for industrial process measurement and control. These connectors consist of fixed and free connectors either rewireable or non-rewireable, with screw-locking. The connectors with glass to metal seal are fixed connectors only which consist of fixed glass to metal sealed styles with rewireable male contacts and are intermateable with corresponding free connectors according to this International Standard. Male connectors have round contacts ∅ 0,6 mm, ∅ 0,76 mm, ∅ 0,8 mm and ∅ 1,0 mm. The different codings prevent the mating of these coded male or female connectors to any other interfaces and cross-mating between the different codings. NOTE M12 is the dimension of the thread of the screw-locking mechanism of these circular connectors.
