This International Standard specifies test methods for determining the strength and stiffness of joints made with punched metal plate fasteners in load-bearing timber structures, as follows: a) load-slip characteristics and maximum load resulting from the lateral resistance of the embedded projections, at various angles between the direction of the applied force and — the axis of the plate (load-plate angle, α), — the direction of the grain of the timber (load-grain angle, θ); b) the tensile strength of the plate at various angles, α; c) the compression strength of the plate at various angles, α (optional test); d) the shear strength of the plate at various angles, α. This International Standard is linked to ISO 6891, which gives general test requirements. In addition, a method for testing the nail root in alternate bending is specified in Annex A.
Timber structures -- Testing of punched metal plate fasteners and joints
This International Standard lays down general principles for the determination of the strength and deformation (slip) charac-teristics of joints made with mechanical fasteners.
Timber structures -- Joints made with mechanical fasteners -- General principles for the determination of strength and deformation characteristics
This International Standard specifies a method, based on density, for the selection of pieces of wood used in determining the strength and stiffness properties of connections made with mechanical fasteners. It is assumed the wood density is normally distributed and that any deviations are reported. This International Standard is applicable only to specimens of wood. NOTE It is emphasized that the wood density is only one of the properties that can influence the strength of a joint. Other relevant properties are, for example, growth-ring size, slope of grain, toughness and hardness.
Timber structures -- Testing of joints made with mechanical fasteners -- Requirements for wood density
This International Standard specifies test methods for determining the following characteristic values of glued laminated timber: modulus of elasticity in bending; shear modulus; bending strength; modulus of elasticity in tension parallel to the grain; tension strength parallel to the grain; modulus of elasticity in compression parallel to the grain; compression strength parallel to the grain; modulus of elasticity in tension perpendicular to the grain; tension strength perpendicular to the grain; modulus of elasticity in compression perpendicular to the grain; compression strength perpendicular to the grain and shear strength. In addition, the determination of dimensions, moisture content, and density are specified. The methods apply to rectangular shapes of glued laminated timber.
Timber structures -- Glued laminated timber -- Test methods for determination of physical and mechanical properties
This International Standard provides a basic international framework for establishing structural classes for sawn timber.

1.1 This practice is to be used to evaluate the elevated temperature performance of end-jointed lumber studs. 1.2 A symmetric wall assembly containing end-jointed lumber studs is exposed to a standard fire exposure specified in Test Methods E119. 1.3 End-jointed lumber studs are deemed qualified if the wall assembly resists a standard fire exposure specified in Test Methods E119 for a period of 60 min or more. Qualification of end-jointed lumber studs are restricted to the joint configuration and adhesive tested. 1.4 This practice is used to evaluate the performance of end-jointed lumber studs to heat and flame under controlled conditions, but does not by itself incorporate all factors required for fire hazard or fire risk assessment under actual fire conditions. 1.5 The values stated in inch-pound units are to be regarded as the standard. The values given in parentheses are for information only. 1.6 This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety and health practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use.
