1.1 This terminology contains common terms, definitions of terms, descriptions of terms, nomenclature, and acronyms associated with three-dimensional (3D) imaging systems in an effort to standardize terminology used for 3D imaging systems. 1.2 The definitions of the terms presented in 3.1 are obtained from various standard documents developed by various standards development organizations. The intent is not to change these universally accepted definitions but to gather, in a single document, terms and their definitions that may be used in current or future standards for 3D imaging systems. 1.2.1 In some cases, definitions of the same term from two standards have been presented to provide additional reference. The text in parentheses to the right of each defined term is the name (and, in some cases, the specific section) of the source of the definition associated with that term. 1.3 The definitions in 3.2 are specific terms developed by this committee for 3D imaging systems. Some terms may have generally accepted definitions in a particular community or are defined in existing standards. If there are conflicting definitions, our preference is to adapt (modify) the ISO standard (if available) for this standard. 1.4 A definition in this terminology is a statement of the meaning of a word or word group expressed in a single sentence with additional information included in notes or discussions. 1.5 This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety and health practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use. Note 18212;The subcommittee responsible for this standard will review definitions on a five-year basis to determine if the definition is still appropriate as stated. Revisions will be made when determined necessary.

Personnel that are responsible for the creation, transfer, and storage of computed radiography NDE data will use this practice. This practice will define a set of information modules that along with the Practice E2339 and the DICOM standard will provide a standard means to organize CR inspection data. The CR inspection data may be displayed and analyzed on any device that conforms to the standard. Personnel wishing to view any CR inspection data stored in accordance with Practice E2339 may use this practice to help them decode and display the data contained in the DICONDE compliant inspection record.1.1 This practice facilitates the interoperability of computed radiography (CR) imaging and data acquisition equipment by specifying image data transfer and archival storage methods in commonly accepted terms. This practice is intended to be used in conjunction with Practice E2339 on Digital Imaging and Communication in Nondestructive Evaluation (DICONDE). Practice E2339 defines an industrial adaptation of the NEMA Standards Publication titled Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine (DICOM, see http://medical.nema.org), an international standard for image data acquisition, review, storage and archival storage. The goal of Practice E2339, commonly referred to as DICONDE, is to provide a standard that facilitates the display and analysis of NDE results on any system conforming to the DICONDE standard. Toward that end, Practice E2339 provides a data dictionary and a set of information modules that are applicable to all NDE modalities. This practice supplements Practice E2339 by providing information object definitions, information modules and a data dictionary that are specific to computed radiography test methods. 1.2 This practice has been developed to overcome the issues that arise when analyzing or archiving data from CR test equipment using proprietary data transfer and storage methods. As digital technologies evolve, data must remain decipherable through the use of open, industry-wide methods for data transfer and archival storage. This practice defines a method where all standard CR technique parameters and test results are communicated and stored in a standard manner regardless of changes in digital technology. 1.3 This practice does not specify: 1.3.1 A testing or validation procedure to assess an implementation's conformance to the standard. 1.3.2 The implementation details of any features of the standard on a device claiming conformance. 1.3.3 The overall set of features and functions to be expected from a system implemented by integrating a group of devices each claiming DICONDE conformance. 1.4 Although this practice contains no values that require units, it does describe methods to store and communicate data that do require units to be properly interpreted. The SI units required by this practice are to be regarded as standard. No other units of measurement are included in this practice. 1.5 This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. Defines projected image system contrast ratio and its measurement. It applies to both permanently installed systems and live events. It applies to front and rear projection. This Standard defines four contrast ratios based on content viewing requirements. System contrast ratio refers to the image as it is presented to viewers in a space with ambient light. Practical metrics to measure and validate the defined contrast ratios are provided. This Standard includes an optional HTML test pattern (appendix), which can be downloaded as a zip file from: http://docdev.infocomm.org/apps/group public/documents.php?view=openforcomment

This European Standard specifies a set of metadata for the description of cinematographic works, as well as a terminology for use by parties wishing to exchange such descriptive metadata. It also defines some basic entities and relationships useful for defining data models as well as for structuring hierarchically ordered and serialised representations of metadata about cinematographic works including their variants, manifestations, and items. Specific vocabularies for values of elements and attributes are mandated only in selected cases, and only if these vocabularies are actively maintained by a standardisation body.

This guide is intended as a source of tutorial and reference information that can be used during establishment of computed radiography techniques and procedures by qualified CR personnel for specific applications. All materials presented within this guide may not be suited for all levels of computed radiographic personnel. This guide is intended to build upon an established basic knowledge of radiographic fundamentals (that is, film systems) as may be found in Guide E94. Similarly, materials presented within this guide are not intended as “all-inclusive” but are intended to address basic CR topics and issues that complement a general knowledge of computed radiography as described in 1.2 and 3.2.28. Materials presented within this guide may be useful in the development of end-user training programs designed by qualified CR personnel or activities that perform similar functions. Computed radiography is considered a rapidly advancing inspection technology that will require the user maintain knowledge of the latest CR apparatus and technique innovations. Section 11 of this guide contains technical reference materials that may be useful in further advancement of knowledge associated with computed radiography.1.1 This guide provides general tutorial information regarding the fundamental and physical principles of computed radiography (CR), definitions and terminology required to understand the basic CR process. An introduction to some of the limitations that are typically encountered during the establishment of techniques and basic image processing methods are also provided. This guide does not provide specific techniques or acceptance criteria for specific end-user inspection applications. Information presented within this guide may be useful in conjunction with those standards of 1.2. 1.2 CR techniques for general inspection applications may be found in Practice E2033. Technical qualification attributes for CR systems may be found in Practice E2445. Criteria for classification of CR system technical performance levels may be found in Practice E2446. Reference Images Standards E2422, E2660, and E2669 contain digital reference acceptance illustrations. 1.3 The values stated in SI units are to be regarded as the standard. The inch-pound units given in parentheses are for information only. 1.4 This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety and health practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use.
