It is intended for use by employers, employees and self-employed persons who use rope access methods, and those who commission rope access work, e.g. building owners and contractors, and also by national enforcement agencies and safety officers. This British Standard is applicable to the use of rope access methods for access to buildings, other structures (on or offshore) or natural features (such as cliff faces), in which the ropes are suspended from, or connected to, the structure or natural feature. It is applicable to situations where ropes are used as the primary means of access, egress or support and as the primary means of protection against a fall.

Dieser Teil von ISO 13856 stellt allgemeine Leitsatze auf und legt Anforderungen an die Gestaltung und Prufung derjenigen druckempfindlichen Schutzeinrichtungen mit oder ohne Ruckstelleinrichtung fest, die weder in ISO 13856-1 noch in ISO 13856-2 beschrieben werden; die Mehrzahl dieser Schutzeinrichtungen wird fur bestimmte Anwendungen hergestellt und ist nicht als ubliche Handelsware erhaltlich. Dieser Teil von ISO 13856 enthalt auserdem besondere Anforderungen an folgende druckempfindliche Schutzeinrichtungen: a) Schaltpuffer; b) Schaltflachen; c) Schaltleinen. Dieser Teil von ISO 13856 behandelt vielmehr die Gestaltung von druckempfindlichen Schutzeinrichtungen im Hinblick auf deren Sicherheit und Zuverlassigkeit, als im Hinblick auf deren Eignung fur bestimmte Anwendungen. ANMERKUNG 1 Fur die Beziehung zwischen Sicherheit und Zuverlassigkeit siehe ISO 13849-1:2006, 4.2. ANMERKUNG 2 Der Hersteller und/oder Anwender der Maschinen tragt die Verantwortung fur die Installation von geeigneten Arten von Schutzeinrichtungen auf Grundlage einer Risikobeurteilung. Dieser Teil von ISO 13856 gilt nicht fur die Festlegung von Masen von druckempfindlichen Schutzeinrichtungen in Bezug auf eine bestimmte Anwendung, oder Stoppeinrichtungen nach IEC 60204-1, die nur fur den Normalbetrieb von Maschinen einschlieslich Not-Halt verwendet werden. ANMERKUNG 3 Spezielle Anforderungen fur besondere Anwendungen sind dafur vorgesehen, in entsprechenden Typ-C-Normen dargelegt zu werden (siehe ISO 12100 und Einleitung). Zusatzliche Anforderungen konnen erforderlich sein, wenn druckempfindliche Schutzeinrichtungen an Orten zum Einsatz kommen, die fur altere oder behinderte Personen oder fur Kinder zuganglich sind. ANMERKUNG 4 Auch wenn Anforderungen an die Storfestigkeit der Einrichtung gegenuber elektromagnetischen Storungen angegeben sind, decken diese nicht samtliche Aspekte der elektromagnetischen Vertraglichkeit (EMV) ab.
