1.1 This classification system covers segmented block copolyether-ester elastomers suitable for molding and extrusion. 1.2 This classification system allows for the use of segmented block copolyether-ester elastomers that are recycled provided that the requirements as stated in this classification system are met. The proportions of recycled material used, as well as the nature and amount of any contaminant, however, cannot be covered practically in this specification. 1.3 The properties included in this classification system are those required to identify the compositions covered. It is possible that there are other requirements necessary to identify particular characteristics important to specialized applications. One way of specifying them is by using the suffixes as given in Section 5. 1.4 This classification system and subsequent line callout (specification) are intended to provide a means of calling out plastic materials used in the fabrication of end items or parts. 1.1 This classification system covers polychlorotrifluoroethylene (PCTFE) plastics that consist of at least 908201;% chlorotrifluoroethylene and are suitable for extrusion and for compression and injection molding. Additional components allow for chemical modifications, such as co-monomers, but not colorants, fillers, plasticizers, or mechanical blends with other resins. This classification system does not cover recycled PCTFE materials. 1.2 The physical and electrical properties of parts molded or extruded from PCTFE molding compounds vary with the crystalline content obtained during processing and subsequent annealing. 7.1 The ionic form of an ion-exchange material affects both its equivalent mass and its equilibrium water content. These in turn influence the numerical values obtained in exchange capacity determinations, in density measurements, and in the size of the particles. To provide a uniform basis for comparison, therefore, the sample should be converted to a known ionic form before analysis. This procedure provides for the conversion of cation-exchange materials to the sodium form and anion-exchange materials to the chloride form prior to analysis. These forms are chosen since they permit samples to be weighed and dried without concern for air contamination or decomposition. If other ionic forms are used this fact should be noted in reporting the results. 1.1 These test methods cover the determination of the physical and chemical properties of ion-exchange resins when used for the treatment of water. They are intended for use in testing both new and used materials. 7.1 The particle size distribution of powdered ion exchange resins and, more importantly, the derived parameters of mean particle size and percent above and below specified size limits are useful for determining batch to batch variations and, in some cases, can be related to certain aspects of product performance. 7.2 Although automatic multichannel particle size analyzers, of the type described in Section 9, yield information on the entire distribution of sizes present in a given sample, it has been found that, for this application, the numerical value of three derived parameters may adequately describe the particle size characteristics of the samples: the mean particle diameter (in micrometres), the percent of the sample that falls below some size limit, and the percent of the sample that falls above some size limit. 1.1 These test methods cover the determination of the physical and chemical properties of powdered ion exchange resins and are intended for use in testing new materials. 5.1 The relative simplicity of the test method makes it applicable for a wide range of materials (4, 5). The technique is capable of fast measurements, making it possible to take data before the materials suffer thermal degradation. Alternatively, it is possible to study the effect of compositional changes such as chemical reaction or aging (6). Short measurement times permit generation of large amounts of data with little effort. The line-source probe and the accompanying test specimen are small in size, making it possible to subject the sample to a wide range of test conditions. Because this test method does not contain a numerical precision and bias statement, it shall not be used as a referee test method in case of dispute. 1.1 This test method covers the determination of the thermal conductivity of plastics over a temperature range from –40 to 400°C.
