This supplement includes descriptions related to multiplexing the non-standard ODU2-like structures into ODU3-like signals. Different attributes of the varying solutions are described to help provide guidance on which approaches are appropriate to which network contexts. Including a currently non-standard mapping in this supplement does not preclude considering that mapping for standardization at a future date.

This Recommendation 1 defines a single algorithm for assessing the speech quality of current and near future telephony systems that utilize a broad variety of coding, transport and speech enhancement technologies.Based on the benchmark results presented within the studies of ITU-T, an overview of the test factors, coding technologies and applications to which this Recommendation applies is given in Tables 1 to 4. Table 1 presents factors and applications included in the requirement specification and which were used in the selection phase of the ITU-T P.863 algorithm. It should be noted that the performance of the ITU-T P.863 algorithm under each individual condition in Table 1 is not reflected in this table. Additional and detailed analysis will be undertaken in the characterization phase of the ITU-T P.863 algorithm. Table 2 presents a list of conditions for which this Recommendation is not intended to be used. Table 3 presents test variables for which further investigation is needed, or for which ITU-T P.863 is subject to claims of providing inaccurate predictions when used in conjunction with these. Finally, Table 4 lists factors, technologies and applications for which the ITU-T P.863 algorithm has not currently been validated. Note that the ITU-T P.863 algorithm cannot be used to replace subjective testing.

This Recommendation defines the mapping rules for the carriage of an AES/EBU bit stream as defined inRecommendation ITU-R BS.647 over horizontal ancillary data space of serial digital interfaces conformingto Recommendation ITU-R BS.656 and ITU-R BT.799. This Recommendation specifies the requirements and analysis for the management interface between the Element Management System (EMS) and the Network Management System (NMS) of Metro Ethernet as defined in MEF-10 and Ethernet over Transport (EoT), specifically the Ethernet ETH layer as defined in [ITU-T G.8010]. This Recommendation follows the interface specification methodology described in [ITU-T M.3020]. In this Recommendation, the EMS is an Operations System (OS) used to manage the individual network elements supporting Metro Ethernet and EoT services as well as the networks between them. One or more EMSs may be deployed depending on the different supplier products and geographic distribution of the network elements in the network. The NMS represents an integrated management OS across different technologies and EMSs. The NMS communicates with EMS through the Q Interface to realize its management functions. The management functions covered in this Recommendation include configuration management, performance measurement parameters management, and alarm reporting and testing in fault management. These management functions are described and divided by UML use cases in the requirements. The analysis provides the managed entities which support a protocol-neutral information model for Metro Ethernet and EoT management, and also explains the static and dynamic relationships between these managed entities using UML class diagrams and sequence diagrams. This Recommendation does not cover all aspects about Ethernet management; only those related to Metro Ethernet and EoT services management are addressed. This Recommendation is built on and extends the information model provided in [MEF 7].

This Recommendation contains a service-level profile, i.e., SIP/SDP interface description, between two network operators (NNI signalling profile), where the two different network operators may support different SIP/SDP profiles (i.e., they differ in terms of the SIP extensions, SIP information elements and SDP lines which are supported). Transport-level profile, e.g., RTP, is described as necessary as the media are described in the service-level signalling. NOTE 1 – Specification of the interworking between the SIP/SDP profile contained in this Recommendation and the SIP/SDP profiles in each operator's network (i.e., the functions contained inside the interworking entity/entities at the network boundary) is out of scope of this Recommendation. For the protocol set 1 of the NGN NNI signalling profile, this Recommendation covers the voiceband services such as VoIP (audio, text and so on), DTMF and T.38 fax. NOTE 2 – Support for a mobility management interface is not supported in this version of this interface. However, nomadicity of users between different networks is supported.
