Controlled relative humidity environments are important for conditioning materials for shelf-life studies or for investigating the change in physical or dielectric properties after exposure. The use of aqueous-glycerin solutions reduces the possibility of contamination of the materials or corrosion of electrode systems which would be more likely to result from saturated salt or acid water solutions. Applicable material specifications should state the exposure conditions, including time, temperature and relative humidity that a material should be subjected to before subsequent testing. Typical conditions are given in Practice D618 or D6054.1.1 This practice describes a method for obtaining constant relative humidity ranging from 30 to 98 % at temperatures ranging from 0 to 70°C in relatively small containers by means of an aqueous glycerin solution. 1.2 This practice is applicable for closed systems such as environmental conditioning containers. 1.3 This practice is not recommended for the generation of continuous (flowing) streams of constant humidity unless precautionary criteria are followed to ensure source stability. 1.4 This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety and health practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use.

This proposed standard provides a laboratory test method for assessing the performance of air cleaning devices used in gas-phase air cleaning systems. The test method is for filters and complete devices designed to be used for in-duct gaseous contaminant air cleaning in their commercial form at full-scale. These gaseous contaminant air cleaning devices are those most often selected for use in building HVAC systems.The results can provide useful information for the design and selection of air cleaning systems for controlling indoor concentrations of gaseous air contaminants.

This European Standard applies to fire dampers that are to be used in conjunction with fire separating elements to maintain fire compartments. This standard specifies requirements and gives reference to the test methods defined for fire dampers, which are intended to be installed in Heating, Ventilating and Air Conditioning (HVAC) installations in buildings. All fire dampers close automatically in response to raised temperatures indicating fire. Details are given for the provision of evaluation of conformity and marking of fire dampers. To avoid duplication reference is made to a variety of other standards. To this end it is advised to read this standard in conjunction with EN 1366-2 and EN 1363-1 for details of the fire resistance testing and EN 13501-3 for classification. Fire dampers meeting requirements of this standard may be considered suitable for both ducted and unducted applications. This standard has not considered in detail the detrimental and/or corrosive effects that may be caused by chemical processes present in the atmosphere, which are drawn through the system intentionally or inadvertently and therefore does not apply to fire dampers used in such applications. An indication of salt spray corrosion may be determined using the method described in Annex B.
