These stairs are fixed in the passenger area, the accommodation and working areas of inland navigation vessels. NOTE Stairs with lower practicability used in restricted locations are covered by prEN 790:1999 for the working area.

This European Standard specifies the design, dimensions, technical requirements and testing of connections for the transfer of diesel oil on inland navigation vessels. It does not apply to the filling of cargo tanks. The standard specifies: —a connection of a design that is common on inland navigation vessels consisting of a threaded pipe and a quick-release coupling; —a connection for vessels with deck screw caps (internal thread according to ISO 228-1) consisting of an adaptor with threaded pipe and a quick-release coupling. The standard does not cover the necessary measures for the prevention of electrostatic charging and overfilling.

This European Standard specifies main dimensions, construction and requirements for rope tubs. Rope tubs are used on inland vessels to stow up steel wire ropes, man-made fibre ropes or natural fibre ropes which are needed for example for tying and hauling. The use of rope tubs prevents the risk to the crew during manoeuvres, of getting entangled in tightening slings or stumbling over ropes laid down on deck.
