This SAE Recommended Practice establishes the procedure for measuring the sound level of recreational motorboats in the vicinity of a shore bordering any recreational boating area during which time a boat is operating under conditions other than stationary mode operation. It is intended as a guide toward standard practice and is subject to change to keep pace with experience and technical advances. This document specifies guidelines for sound level measurements made from the shoreline of recreational boating areas and is intended for pleasure motorboats only.

This International Standard specifies the essential characteristics of a test surface intended to be used for measuring vehicle and tyre/road noise emissions. The surface design given in this International Standard: - produces consistent levels of tyre/road sound emission under a wide range of operating conditions including those appropriate to vehicle sound testing; - minimizes inter-site variation; - provides minor absorption of the vehicle sound sources; - is consistent with road-building practice.

This part of ISO 10302 specifies methods for measuring the airborne noise emitted by small air-moving devices (AMDs), such as those used for cooling electronic, electrical, and mechanical equipment where the sound power level of the AMD is of interest. Examples of these AMDs include propeller fans, tube-axial fans, vane-axial fans, centrifugal fans, motorized impellers, and their variations. This part of ISO 10302 describes the test apparatus and methods for determining the airborne noise emitted by small AMDs as a function of the volume flow rate and the fan static pressure developed by the AMD on the test apparatus. It is intended for use by AMD manufacturers, by manufacturers who use AMDs for cooling electronic equipment and similar applications, and by testing laboratories. It provides a method for AMD manufacturers, equipment manufacturers and testing laboratories to obtain comparable results. Results of measurements made in accordance with this part of ISO 10302 are expected to be used for engineering information and performance verification, and the methods can be cited in purchase specifications and contracts between buyers and sellers. The ultimate purpose of the measurements is to provide data to assist the designers of electronic, electrical or mechanical equipment which contains one or more AMDs. Based on experimental data, a method is given for calculating the maximum volume flow rate of the scaled plenum up to which this part of ISO 10302 is applicable.

This European Standard specifies a method for characterizing the dynamic behaviour of the structure of a track relative to its contribution to the sound radiation associated with the rolling noise. This European Standard describes a method for: a) acquiring data on mechanical frequency reponse functions on a track; b) processing measurement data in order to calculate an estimate of the vibration decay rates along the rails in an audible frequency range associated with the rolling noise; c) presenting this estimate for comparision with the lower limits of the decay rates. It is applicable for evaluating the performance of sections of reference tracks for measuring railway vehicle noise within the framework of official approval tests. The method is not applicable for characterizing the vibration behaviour of tracks on loadbearing structures such as bridges or embankmments.
