The document deals with the specification of masonry strength classes on the basis of suitability tests on masonry. A more detailed classification has been made possible by the introduction of further masonry strength classes up to masonry strength class M6. The more precise design method previously specified in DIN 1053-2 has now been included in the new edition of DIN 1053-1.
