This European Standard provides the reaction to fire classification procedure for all costruction procucts, including products incorporated withing elements. Products are considered in relatinv to their end use application. This document applies to three categories, which are teeated separately in this European Standared: - construction products, excluding floorings and linear pipe thermal insulation products; - floorings; - linear pire thermal insulation products. NOTE The treatment of some families of products is still under review and can necessitate amendments to this European Standard(see European Commission Decision 2000/147/EC).

ISO/TS 19700:2007 describes a tube-furnace method for the generation of fire effluent for the identification and measurement of its constituent combustion products, in particular, the yields of toxic products under a range of fire decomposition conditions. The test method described in ISO/TS 19700:2007 can be used solely to measure and describe the properties of materials, products or systems in response to heat or flame under controlled laboratory conditions. It is not suitable to be used by itself for describing or appraising the fire hazard of materials, products or systems under actual fire conditions, or as the sole source on which regulations pertaining to toxicity can be based.

ISO/TR 16312-2:2007 assesses the utility of physical fire models that have been standardized, are commonly used and/or are cited in national or international standards, for generating fire effluent toxicity data of known accuracy. It does so using the criteria established in ISO/TR 16312-1 and the guidelines established in ISO/TR 19706. The aspects of the models that are considered are the intended application of the model, the combustion principles it manifests, the fire stage(s) that the model attempts to replicate, the types of data generated, the nature and appropriateness of the combustion conditions to which test specimens are exposed and the degree of validity established for the model.

This test procedure covers the basic test methods for determining ignition-protection and is not to be considered as a test standard that will determine the acceptability of a product or component for use in marine service. The acceptability of a product or component in the intended application is judged in accordance with applicable requirements and tests for that component or product.

1.1 The requirements given in this International Standard govern the application of algebraic equation sets to the calculation of specific characteristics of smoke layer generated by fires. 1.2 This International Standard is an implementation of the general requirements provided in ISO/TR 13387-3 for the case of fire dynamics calculations involving sets of algebraic equations. 1.3 This International Standard is arranged in the form of a templat, where specific information relevant to algebraic smoke layer equations is provided to satisfy the following types of general requirements: a) description of physical phenomena addressed by the calculation method; b) documentation of the calculation procedure and its scientific basis; c) limitations of the calculation method; d) input parameters for the calculation method; e) domain of applicability of the calculation method. 1.4 Examples of sets of algebraic equations meeting all the requirements of this International Standard are provided in separate annexes for each different type of smoke layer scenario. Annex A contains general information and conservation requirements for smoke layers and Annex B contains specific algebraic equations for calculation of smoke layer characteristics.

This Technical Specification describes a methodology for the selection of design fire scenarios and design fires that are credible but conservative for use in deterministic fire safety engineering analyses of any built environment including buildings, structures or transportation vehicles. The selection of design fire scenarios is tailored to the fire-safety design objectives, and accounts for the likelihood and consequences of potential scenarios. The selection of design fires is also tailored to the fire-safety objectives and to ensuring credible but severe fire exposure conditions. While this Technical Specification provides more operational information on the selection of design fire scenarios and design fires than ISO/TR 13387-2I20!, it is not intended to replace ISO/TR 13387-2 within the self-consistent set of parts making up ISO/TR 13387.

This Technical Report has been prepared in order to review whether the current ISO furnace-based fire resistance testing methods remain appropriate for establishing the performance of elements of structure when exposed to fully developed fire conditions in the context of a fire safety engineered strategy for a building. It identifies whether there is a difference between the data produced and the data required. Where there is, it reviews whether the test methods can be easily adapted to improve either the relevance of the test, or the output data, to make it more suitable for use in fire engineering applications. This Technical Report reviews the mechanisms and routes of fire spread and identifies the criteria used for these tests to aid simple comparison and compares them with the conditions that can lead to fire spread or a loss of tenability for people in reality.

This Published Document discusses the European Union (EU) and United Kingdom (UK) legislation intended to minimize the risk of fire and explosion in the process industries. It provides a comprehensive guide to the standards, draft standards and other documents that contain the technical, practical and organizational information to ensure compliance with EU Directives and UK regulations. This legislation specifies a risk assessment approach to dealing with fire and explosion hazards, so the procedures adopted in performing a risk assessment are used in this document as a framework with which to guide the reader to the information required to prepare the assessment. The fire and explosion hazards covered in this code arise from use in the workplace of dangerous substances, as defined in the Dangerous Substances and Explosive Atmospheres Regulations (DSEAR) [1], and combustible substances that do not fall under the DSEAR definition of Dangerous Substances but which are capable of burning and thus participating in a fire. NOTE 1 Fire and explosion hazards fall into two types in the process industries; those associated with the use of dangerous substances and the operation of equipment in explosive atmospheres, and those associated with chemical reaction hazards and uncontrolled exothermic reactions and decompositions. This Published Document concentrates on the first of these fire and explosion hazards. The second, although part of DSEAR [1], is not the subject of standards, but needs to be considered in the overall risk assessment. Although such topics are not comprehensively covered in this code, some further reading is listed in the bibliography. This Published Document is not applicable to the offshore industry or to the mining industry. It is not applicable to oxidizing substances or preparations, or to substances that are used or manufactured solely for their explosive properties. NOTE 2 Some further reading on such substances and preparations is listed in the bibliography. NOTE 3 This Published Document refers only to standards or other types of document that are published by recognized standards bodies. Some fire and explosion hazards, chemical reaction hazards, for example, are not the subject of standards, but need to be considered in the overall risk assessment. Although such topics are not comprehensively covered in this code some further reading is listed in the bibliography.
