This part of IEC 61966 specifies the colour gamut metadata format for video systems intended for use in CE (Consumer Electronics) devices. The metadata specified in this part of IEC 61966 is limited to the gamut description of additive three primary colours type displays whose white and black points have the same chromaticity. It is fundamentally based on the conventional VESA-EDID format. When associated with content@ the simple metadata format defines the gamut for which the content was created. It can be used by the display for controlled colour reproduction even if the display's colour gamut is different from that of the content. When associated with a display@ the simple metadata format defines the display colour gamut. It can be used during content creation to enable improved colour reproduction. This standard provides the simplest@ but unambiguous solution for typical CE devices that are based on colour gamut information communication.

Recommendation ITU-T J.604 describes requirements for a scalable video transmission system over cable networks,which is one of the transmission methods for providing additional high resolution video services.High resolution video formats such as 4K are expected to be one of the ultra-realistic video formats that will be applied to future video services over cable network infrastructures.In the beginning of 4K video (ITU-R BT.1769/ITU-R BT.2020) services,both high definition television (HDTV) and 4K video services will be simultaneously provided.Considering the cost of constructing the infrastructure,the current and new services will be provided over the same cable network infrastructure.Furthermore, in the case where the 4K video service will be additionally provided over the existing cable network infrastructure,the signal receiver (e.g.,the set top box (STB) device) should be replaced with one that supports the 4K service.However,it is difficult to change all STB devices in the existing service at the same time, and therefore the 4K service will coexist with the current HDTV service.Distribution systems using scalable video coding technology are one of the effective methods for providing simultaneous services.Within a general scalable video coding method,the smallest resolution video is coded as the low layer,and then the higher resolution video is coded as the higher layer by encoding the difference information from the lower resolution video.From the viewpoint of compatibility to the current cable services which employs radio frequency (RF)-based broadcasting,one solution is that the existing HDTV service over RF is also used as the low layer,and then the difference information between 4K video and HDTV may be transmitted as the higher layer over the IP interface (data over cable service interface specification (DOCSIS)ITU-T J.222.0).This Recommendation includes requirements regarding general issues, scalability of video service,and system performance.

(a) All TVBDs are permitted to operate available channels in the frequency bands 512–608 MHz (TV channels 21–36) and 614–698 MHz (TV channels 38–51), subject to the interference protection requirements in §§ 15.711 and 15.712, ex- cept that operation of TVBDs is pro- hibited on the first channel above and the first channel below TV channel 37 (608–614 MHz) that are available, i.e., not occupied by an authorized service. If a channel is not available both above and below channel 37, operation is prohibited on the first two channels near- est to channel 37. These channels will be identified and protected in the TV bands database(s).

(a) Purpose. The TV bands database serves the following functions: (1) To determine and provide to a TVBD, upon request, the available TV channels at the TVBD’s location. Available channels are determined based on the interference protection requirements in § 15.712. A database must provide fixed and Mode II personal portable TVBDs with channel avail- ability information that includes scheduled changes in channel avail- ability over the course of the 48 hour period beginning at the time the TVBDs make a recheck contact.

This International Standard defines the common semantics and core elements on rights information interoperability for IPTV systems/equipment that is subject to multimedia content to be used across different platforms legally. The rights information includes rights and security related metadata that is described in ITU-T Recommendation H.750. Rights related information@ such as content ID@ permission issuer ID and permission receiver ID@ which is used to bridge between rights related metadata@ is considered in this standard. On the other hand@ rights management and content protection technology are beyond the scope of this standard.
