This European Standard specifies the performance requirements for single and multi-wall system chimney products with rigid metallic liners (chimney sections, chimney fittings and terminals, including supports) with nominal diameter up to and including 1200 mm, used to convey the products of combustion from appliances to the outside atmosphere. It also specifies the requirements for marking, manufacturer's instructions, product information and evaluation of conformity. Metal liners and metal connecting flue pipes not covered here are included in EN 1856-2:2009. This European Standard does not apply to structurally independent (free standing or self-supporting) chimneys.

This document specifies the performance requirements for rigid or flexible metal flue liners, rigid metal connecting flue pipes and their fittings used to convey the products of combustion from appliances to the outside atmosphere (including their supports). Vitreous enamelled connecting flue pipes are also covered by this document. Rigid flue liners can be used as flue liners for renovation or adaptation of existing chimneys and as flue liners of custom built chimneys. Flexible metal flue liners described in this document are exclusively for renovation or adaptation of existing chimneys. Flexible connecting flue pipes and extensible flexible products designed to be compressed or extended along their length are excluded from the scope of this document. This document also specifies the requirements for marking, manufacturer's instructions, product information and evaluation of conformity. Single wall and multi-wall system chimney products are covered by EN 1856-1.

This standard specifies test methods, test requirements and classifications for air handling units, which are supplying and/or extracting air via a ductwork ventilating/conditioning a part or the whole of the building. This standard is not applicable to the following: a) air conditioning units serving a limited area in a building, such as fan coil units; b) units for residential buildings; c) units producing ventilation air mainly for a manufacturing process. Except for the thermal and acoustic performance of the casing, the test methods and requirements are applicable to both complete units and any separate sections. The filter bypass test is not applicable to the testing of high efficiency particulate air filters (HEPA). NOTE HEPA filters are recommended to be installed downstream of the air handling unit. Such installations should be leak tested in accordance with the appropriate filter standards. The test method for the thermal performance of the casing is applicable to the comparison of different constructions, but not to the calculation of thermal losses through casing or the risk of condensation. Similarly, the test method for the acoustic performance of the casing is applicable to the comparison of different constructions, but not to the provision of accurate acoustic data for specific units.

This part of EN 13384 specifies methods for calculation of the thermal and fluid dynamic characteristics of chimneys serving more than one heating appliance. This part of EN 13384 covers both the cases, either (1) where the chimney is connected with more than one connecting flue pipe from individual or several appliances in a multi-inlet arrangement or (2) where the chimney is connected with an individual connecting flue pipe connecting more than one appliance in a cascade arrangement. The case of multiple inlet cascade arrangement is covered by the case (1). This part of EN 13384 deals with chimneys operating under negative pressure conditions (there can be positive pressure condition in the connecting flue pipe) and with chimneys operating under positive pressure conditions and is valid for chimneys serving heating appliances for liquid, gaseous and solid fuels. This part of EN 13384 does not apply to: - chimneys with different thermal resistance or different cross-section in the various chimney segments. This part does not apply to calculate energy gain. - chimneys with open fire places, e.g. open fire chimneys or chimney inlets which are normally intended to operate open to the room - chimneys which serve a mixture of fan assisted or forced draught burners or natural draught appliances. Fan assisted appliances with draught diverter between the fan and the chimney are considered as natural draught appliances. - chimneys with multiple inlets from more than 5 storeys. (This does not apply to balanced flue chimney.) - chimneys serving heating appliances with open air supply through ventilation openings or air ducts, which are not installed in the same air supply pressure region (e.g. same side of building). For positive pressure chimneys this part only applies if any heating appliance which is out of action can be positively isolated to prevent flue gas back flow.

This European Standard specifies the materials, dimensional and performance requirements for precast concrete flue blocks as defined in Clause 3 for use in system chimneys. The flue blocks may be of single wall or multi wall construction. The standard does not apply to flue blocks with back ventilation. This standard does not cover products designated wet (W) in conjunction with corrosion class 3. The standard also specifies a type of flue block to dimensionally co-ordinate with masonry unit coursing height, referred to as a type B (Bonding block). This European Standard also applies to storey-height and flue blocks reinforced for handling. NOTE Any reference to the term flue blocks implies both flue blocks and their fittings, except where otherwise indicated.

This proposed addendum revises the requirements for PE rooms regarding filter bank No. 2, exempts relief air from the separation requirements of Section 6.3.1, requires better construction of filter-bank blank-off panels to minimize bypassing, adds specific requirements for temperature control to operating rooms, adds a requirement for differential pressure for morgue and autopsy rooms, and makes various changes to the design parameters of Table 7-1. The aim of these changes is to coordinate the standard with both ASHRAE Standard 62.1-2007 and the Guidelines for Design and Construction of Hospital and Health Care Facilities.
