This part of BS 4N 100 specifies the general design requirements for airborne oxygen breathing systems, including oxygen storage and generation equipment and ground support equipment. New tests are specified for compatibility of materials for use in the presence of oxygen. This part also provides some guidance and recommendations on the design and installation of items of equipment for use in oxygen systems. NOTE The guidance and recommendations contained herein may be used equally well in non-aerospace applications. In addition, for all equipment for aircraft oxygen systems, conformance to the relevant parts, sections and sub-sections of BS G 100 is specified.

This document deals with ground and flight test of airplane installed environmental control systems (ECS). The ECS provide an environment, controlled within specified operational limits of comfort and safety, for humans, animals, and equipment. These limits include the following: pressure, temperature, humidity, ventilation air velocity, ventilation rae, wall temperature, audible noise, vibration, and environment composition (ozone, contaminants, etc.). The ECS are composed of equipment, controls, and indicators that supply, distribute, recycle and exhaust air to maintain the desired environment.

This SAE Aerospace Recommended Practice (ARP) provides recommended practices for cleaning aircraft oxygen equipment such as tubing, pieces parts (including regulator and valve parts), cylinders and ground-based equipment that may be used to support aircraft oxygen systems. These methods may apply to gaseous and liquid oxygen equipment. This document specifies work area details, methods to select suitable cleaning chemicals, cleaning methods, test methods to verify cleanliness level, and methods of packaging the components and parts after cleaning. Person designated to clean oxygen equipment should be qualified and trained to clean oxygen equipment. Cleanliness levels achieved are strongly dependent on the capabilities of the persons performing the cleaning operation.

This SAE Aerospace Standard (AS) covers any protection system that serves the stated purpose. This document establishes minimum performance requirements for emergency equipment, which provides flight deck (sedentary) crewmembers with eye and respiratory protection from toxic atmospheres during in-flight emergencies. Defintion of sedentary: sedentary is herein defined as those flight deck crewmembers that remain seated at their flight deck stations throughout the emergency. For those nonsedentary cabin crewmembers whose duty it is to leave their flight station during an emergency (for example, to actively locate and fight an on-board fire).

This standard covers oronasal type masks which use a continuous flow oxygen supply. Each such mask comprises a facepiece with valves as required, a mask suspension device, a reservoir, or rebreather bag (when used), a length of tubing for connection to the oxygen supply source, and a means for allowing the crew to determine if oxygen is being delivered to the mask. The assembly shall be capable of being stowed suitably to meet the requirements of its intended use. This standard establishes the minimum requirements for the design, construction and performance of continuous flow oxygen masks for passenger cabin occupants in civil commercial aircraft.
