Recommended Practice for Planning@ Designing@ and Constructing Structures and Pipelines for Arctic Conditions (Second Edition; Incorporated Errata: December 2009)
GENERAL This recommended practice contains considerations that are unique for planning@ designing@ and constructing Arctic systems. Used with other applicable codes and standards like API Recommended Practice 2A or Recommended Practice 1111@ this recommended practice will be helpful in providing guidance to those involved in design of Arctic systems. The systems covered in this recommended practice for the Arctic environment are: ? Offshore concrete@ steel@ and hybrid structures@ sand islands@ and gravel islands used as platforms for exploration drilling or production. ? Offshore ice islands used as platforms for exploration drilling. ? Near shore causeways. ? Offshore pipelines. ? Shore crossings for pipelines. These systems and a variety if materials covered in this recommended practice require different design methodologies. Therefore@ an understanding of the pertinent considerations related to the different design methods is essential.
