General Motors shall comply with the Standard for Rotating Electrical Machines - General Requirements@ UL 1004-1@ or be evaluated in the end-use by the applicable requirements of this end-product standard@ and shall be of a type suitable for the particular application; see Clause 4.8A. They shall be capable of carrying the normal load (see Clause 5.2) without exceeding the permissible temperatures when the appliance is tested in accordance with the temperature test@ Clause 5.8. Exception: A motor provided with integral insulation (e.g. epoxy coating) in lieu of slot liners shall also comply with the Standard for Systems of Insulating Materials - General@ UL 1446@ and the integral insulation requirements specified in Clause 5.29.
