This Technical Report provides transmission planning information and guidelines that are relevant to the introduction of Voice over ADSL technology into networks supporting voiceband services. This document views the Voice over ADSL technology as an alternative access system to the current copper and subscriber carrier access loop facilities. Therefore@ the discussion is centered on the derived analog service and not the traditional metallic POTS line. This document supports the principle in T1.508 to insert any network loss as near to the end-user terminal as possible and the desirability of implementing any network loss by analog vice digital means. Purpose This Technical Report is intended for use by the telecommunications industry to understand the transmission planning implications associated with the introduction of Voice over ADSL technology into networks that support voiceband services. With this information other standards development bodies@ manufacturers of Voice over ADSL equipment and network planners and implementors can collectively plan and deploy telecommunications networks that deliver high-quality services to end-users.
