The concept of spectrum level is introduced and the conversion of the band level to spectrum level is considered in order to compare the measurement results obtained with different filters. A bandwidth correction provides a relationship between the spectrum and band levels. The relationship is only applicable for a continuous and uniform sound spectrum. For a sound@ particularly random sound@ which satisfies the criteria@ the power spectral density@ as a function of frequency@ can be determined via the spectrum levels.
