PUROSE: To establish the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) standard and tentative standard test methods@ recommended practices@ and specification for use in determining conformance to requirements of Aerospace Material Specification (AMS)@ Aerospace Material Documents (AMD)@ and other specifications in which this specification is referenced. APPLICATION: The ASTM test methods@ recommended practices@ and specifications listed herein are referenced by classification letter and basic number in various AMS@ AMD@ and other specifications. Shown herein are these basic designations with the year and status of issue applicable to AMS and AMD usage; the issue listed herein shall be used for determining conformance to all AMS and AMD in which the basic designation is referenced. When agreed upon by purchaser and vendor and to facilitate standardization of testing@ the issue of ASTM test methods@ recommended practices@ and specifications listed in Section 3 may be used in lieu of the issues shown in AMS@ AMD@ and other specifications by specific issue year and status.
