This Standard provides uniform test procedures for testing Fiber Optic system components utilized for optical communications and data transmission systems. The procedures standardize the method of establishing the light losses and junction efficiency for conformance to individual component requirements. The procedures are applicable for both single fiber and multiple fiber (Bundle) devices unless otherwise indicated. Special test methods are not included@ however@ if conditions to be encountered are more or less severe@ the test may be modified by the detail components standard. In the instance of conflict between the provisions of these test procedures and those of the detail component standard@ the requirements of the detail component standard shall govern.
