These requirements cover electric-battery-powered carts designed for a single user for indoor commercial use with respect to a risk of fire@ electric shock@ and personal injury. These requirements cover electric-battery-powered carts powered by batteries supplying 42.2 Vac (peak) or 60 Vdc or less. The electric-battery-powered cart shall be equipped with no less than 3 wheels@ not including anti-tip devices. The maximum speed shall not exceed 3 mph (4.8 kph). These requirements do not cover electric-battery-powered carts intended for recreational@ residential or industrial use. The requirements do not cover electric-battery-powered carts for use in hazardous locations.
