ABSTRACT The test material@ API #PS-6@ Unleaded Motor Gasoline@ was tested for potential acute toxicity@ using a battery of six tests: Primary Skin Irritation@ Primary Eye Irritation@ Skin Sensitization@ Acute Dermal Toxicity@ Acute Oral Toxicity@ and Subacute Dermal Toxicity. Materials@ methods@ and results of individual tests are presented in this report. The test material API #PS-6 exhibited slightly irritating primary skin effects@ The acute oral toxicity test determined that API #PS-6 has an oral median lethal dose@ i.e.@ oral LD50@ of 18.75 ml/kg. The compound caused acute dermal corrosion and resulted in slight treatment related signs when tested for subacute dermal toxicity. Additionally@ histopathologic examination showed evidence of dermal toxicity at all dosage levels. The acute dermal test showed no obvious signs of toxicity@ but the test material may be associated with one death observed during the study API #PS-6 produced negative results for both the primary eye irritation and skin sensitization tests.
